Neural dynamics underlying food choice and obesity (#2)

Antonio Verdejo-Garcia 1
  1. Monash Institute of Cognitive and Clinical Neurosciences, Clayton, VIC, Australia

Prof Antonio Verdejo-Garcia will discuss how altered communication between brain systems involved in appetite, reward and self-regulation can explain hedonic eating, eating without hunger and unhealthy food choice patterns driving diet-related obesity. He will also discuss how these neural alterations unfold during adolescence and progress through mid adulthood, and what is their impact on the development of obesity and deterioration of brain health.
