Phillip Baker
Dr Baker is a Research Fellow at the Institute for Physical Activity and Nutrition, Deakin University. He holds a PhD from the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, Australian National University. His research focuses on understanding the inter-linkages between food systems change, nutrition transition, public health and sustainability, and on informing governance, policy and programming actions to prevent undernutrition, obesity, and non-communicable diseases. Dr Baker is a member of the Independent Expert Group of the Global Nutrition Report, the world's foremost annual report on nutrition monitoring, accountability and action. He currently leads two World Health Organization funded projects on the governance and politics of nutrition, and on policy actions for improving infant and young child nutrition respectively. He was recently a fellow of the Lancet Commission on Obesity. He currently supervises four PhD, two masters and one honors students.
